| And it's a good question. When laser hair removal first came on the market, the lasers could serve only certain skin and hair types. And many of them were not perfected, delivering poor results for some patients. |
| Much has changed in the past 5 years, particularly in the performance of the laser technology. Previously, the only people who could really benefit from laser hair removal were those with light skin and dark hair. Today's lasers can treat even the hair of darker-skinned patients. The lasers we use at Silk Skin Laser are the very best on the market. The Apogee Elite laser combines both the YAG and the Alexandrite lasers in one unit, permitting us to treat all skin types. | The first and most important question is regarding any medications you may be taking. Because certain medications can cause a negative reaction with the laser, particularly Accutane, Retin-A and some medications for diabetes and other diseases, it is important that laser treatments are not conducted for some time after you have stopped taking these medications. We will talk to you at each visit about your use of these medications - even though this might seem repetitive. This is because months can pass between treatments, during which your medication use may have changed. |
| My second concern is that your treatments are conducted or supervised by professionally trained personnel. As a doctor, I oversee all the procedures and products we use here at Silk Skin Laser to ensure that they are the best for you and are properly administered. In addition to myself, we have a registered nurse on staff and all of the people who administer the laser hair removal treatments are state-licensed estheticians. This gives you confidence that they are taking your particular skin and hair needs into consideration before conducting any treatment. |
