1. What is laser hair removal? Laser hair removal is a method for eliminating unwanted hair using a laser to kill the hair follicle. |

2. How does laser hair removal work? The general principle is quite simple. Dark colors attract light and light colors reflect light. The laser beam is directed at the hair follicles and the dark pigments in the follicle absorb the laser light energy, while the light skin around it reflects the light. The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin. |

3. Is laser hair removal safe? Laser hair removal is very safe for the skin. Some clients may experience a slight redness or soreness immediately after the treatment, but this dissipates quickly. There are no long-term health hazards from laser treatment and our lasers are FDA approved. |

4. How effective is laser hair removal? Laser hair removal is very effective. Once the hair follicle is dead, hair growth in that follicle will not recur. You will see results from your very first treatment. |

5. Does the treatment hurt? Clients often describe the laser treatment as a "hot pinch" or "snapping" feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. Our lasers use a cooler to ease any discomfort. We also offer numbing creams and post-laser soothing gels to reduce any possible irritation. |

6. Why do I need multiple treatments? Lasers treat hair in its active growth phase. Because not all hair is in the active growth phase at the same time, multiple treatments are needed to remove all hair in a specific area. Your Manhattan Laser Clinic esthetician will design a program of treatments - usually 4 to 6 weeks apart - to achieve your hair removal goals. |

7. What kind of results can I expect from each laser hair removal treatment? Each treatment will eliminate those hairs in the active growth phase. Additionally, hair will grow progressively slower, lighter, and finer with each treatment. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after six treatments, but individual results may vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker colored hair. At the end of your protocol, the desired outcome is 80% to 100% clearance in the treated area. |

8. What happens after each laser hair removal treatment? Temporary pinkness of the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will "shed" some hair over the next 3-4 weeks, and you may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment. |
